William Scott Wilson — He Wrote the Character for Dream
Takuan was unaffected by his fame and popularity, and at the approach of death he instructed his disciples, "Bury my body in the mountain behind the temple, cover it with dirt, and go home." Asked for a final poem as he lay dying, he wrote the Chinese character for "dream," threw away the brush, and passed away.
